Tyler and Matt record separately on this day as the Podcast begins with Tyler getting immediately interrupted by a local Amtrak Train. Tyler discusses goal setting, how to set goals, and goal setting theory. He describes to the audience how putting a photo of a half naked man on your wall will help you with your life goals. He goes into journaling for goals. (And No not live online journal or live journal or whatever it was called back in the day) He discusses his personal story of long term and daily goal setting when he was on his path to successfully losing 90 pounds. Tyler states that his own personal journaling is what really helped and stated he would post a sample Journal from his journey on HealthHumorLife.com.

Matt takes over half way through and discusses his two cents on goal setting, taking action (immediately and imperfectly) , his dog getting fixed, an update on his break up, and how to take action instead of sitting at home playing with yourself. He describes how goal setting comes with having a positive mindset and describes ways to think positively and attract positive outcomes to yourself. He discusses SMART goals in detail and why they are important for success in your own personal goal setting and life goals. Matt discusses topics such as...

Title: Goal Setting, Journaling, and How reprogramming your minds leads to a better life

What's going on every body it's Tyler from health humor life... And today- I'm gonna be talking about the importance of goal setting and documenting your progress

- I kept a journal when I started my journey and lost 90lbs 4 years ago, and I'm keeping a journal during my journey now.

- benefits of keeping a journal
  • Keeping a journal requires you to write out our goals. Writing out goals provides the opportunity to articulate them clearly and accurately . Be specific when writing your goals. 
  • DONT JUST WRITE IT DOWN AN D FORGET IT. I'm guilty of this... New Years resolutions and shit... I've written my goals down... And forgotten them... Wrote it and forgot it. Put them somewhere where you'll see them and review them daily.
  • A journal is a permenent record of our progress. When I tell people to keep a journal, I make sure I mention three important parts about the entry.
    • 1st- How you felt that day. We all have ups and downs and venting on paper to reflect and overcome those Obsticals is a huge part of your journey wether it be weight loss, muscle gain, or pursuing your dreams. (Describe one of your deep entries)
    • 2nd - what did you do that day to get you closer to your goal? When writing down exactly what we did that day to get us closer to our goal, it causes us to focus and recall and reflect on our day. Who knows- you could of had a shit day and didn't do anything.. Maybe you took a step back... Good or bad.. Regardless- write it down. This type of discipline forces us to answer the difficult questions like "why did I do this" or "why I chose not to do this" fucking up and documenting it and writing how you can avoid this situation next time- will create awareness for the next time you encounter said situation. You'll know how to handle it because you already wrote on how you would!
    • 3rd Question to ask yourself on your journal entry- What am I going to do tomorrow to make a bigger impact on getting closer to my goal? People go through ups and downs with not only on how they feel- but on their progress towards their goals as well... For example if your goal was weight loss like mine is... You would say... "Well all I did was run a mile today... But tomorrow.. I'm going to run a mile and a half and do a set of push ups and sit ups" this is literally how I started my journey 4 years ago.. I started with jogging a mile and doing 10-20 push ups, and after mentally preparing myself by writing in my journal daily and pushing myself so I can write about how I did and how I did even more than what I said I would do.... A mile became 2 miles... 20 push ups became 50 push ups... I was adding to my workouts. At the end of that 4 year stretch... That one mile run became a 4-1/2 mile run... And those 20 push ups became 300.
  • Which leads me to this point- keeping a journal naturally reminds us to articulate our next steps... When journaling about what we've accomplished and want to accomplish we natural look forward and that next step becomes easier to see and get to.
  • As we write about our journey to achieve our goals, we are always reminded by the end result- our final set goal. It keeps us accountable to ourselves and motivated to hit that goal. When we read about are achievements.. Especially setting new goals and standards for ourselves and breaking those records, it makes us feel great. Setting new mini goals and breaking those records will help keep you motivated.
  • Journals can be used as inspirations for others
